Hold onto your butts!

As you may have already heard, in October of 2022, we started partnering with Shoelace — that fantastic, free, open source library of web components whipped up by tech genius Cory LaViska. Well since then, Shoelace has morphed into — you guessed it — Web Awesome! And to get Web Awesome a good launch off the starting block, we put together a Kickstarter

Take me to the Kickstarter!

So, how’s it going? Swimmingly, thanks for asking.

We’ve got big dreams and our generous backers answered our call!

We giddily kicked off this partnership with a dream of making the web even awesome-r than it already is (in our own little way), and our backers are helping us turn that dream into a roaring success in record time! Seriously, we can’t thank our backers enough for the overwhelming support they’ve shown for our project.

Oh, and our Kickstarter video has a case of the goofballs.

Did we happen to mention we also filmed one of those hilarious (with think) Font Awesome styled Kickstarter videos? Well, we did, indeed. And for those who have followed along over the years, there are some familiar cameos as well as a few brand new fresh-faced superstars in the making!

Check out the video!

The Kickstarter progress thus far:

In less than two hours, we hit our funding goal! Yeah, you read that right. Under two hours. Unbelievable, right? But wait, there’s more! We didn’t just hit our goal; funders smashed through it like the Hulk, Avengers style, and we reached our first stretch goal milestone. Since then we’ve hit goal after goal including …

  • $100K raised on day 1
  • 1,000% funded
  • $200K reached by day 3!
  • Maaaybe we can hit $1 Mill by the finish line? (time will tell)

All this goal crushing means more Web Awesome (plus swag!)

As we keep surpassing these mile markers, we’re adding more stretch goals to make Web Awesome even … awesome-r! We’ve added two more components to Web Awesome free, a Figma plugin and a fresh theme and color palette for Pro themes, AND a WordPress pattern library.

Spread the word and help us keep the fa-ball rolling!

Remember, this is an open source project (with the addition of the Pro paid plan) this means the more support we get, the more we can give back to everyone — for free! So spread the word, share the awesome, and let’s make the web even awesome-r than ever before!

If you haven’t yet, make sure to check out our Kickstarter page for the latest news and stretch goals.
