Once again, we’ve got some super-ginormous, super-awesome news to share. Eleventy and its creator, Zach Leatherman, are joining Font Awesome!
Open Source
Here at Font Awesome, we love open source (as you might already be aware). It’s why we made our icons open source in the first place. And that’s why we never have and never will remove an icon from the free version.
But at Font Awesome, we don’t want to simply sustain open source; we want to see it thrive.
As a matter of fact, since we found a business model with Font Awesome Pro, we’ve actually grown the free icon set by over 300%. And since Web Awesome (née Shoelace) joined Font Awesome and we launched the Web Awesome Pro Kickstarter, we’ve released the WA 3.0 Alpha and made it easier to theme and better than ever. And we’re not done yet.
Eleventy
Eleventy is the fast, flexible static site generator that makes it easy for developers to build websites. Here’s the original announcement and some thoughts on why you should use Eleventy.
We’ve been huge fans of Eleventy and Zach Leatherman for absolutely ages. (I can neither confirm nor deny whether Font Awesome is already home to Eleventy fanbois and fangrils. We will try to not weird him out.) The latest Web Awesome documentation was built on Eleventy, in addition to countless sites made by folks in the community. Eleventy is awesome.
